Jingle all the way

“Hurry, we must make it soon, else they will catch us” Jacob was running restlessly.
“Wait! I am not an athlete, gimme a moment” Mishka stopped him, breathing heavily.

“Look, it was your idea; we have got the stuff, now we must deliver it to them. If father founds us, we are surely gone then.”

“Look, there’s a teddy bear lying there in the lane, good we got stopped here. She had it on her wish list you see.” she chuckled.

“We barely stopped for a minute and I am freezing, the merits of running are over, brrrrr.”

“Ha ha ha! poor you. Let’s go now, they are just two blocks away, it won’t take us long. We will deliver the stuff to them and return. Our fathers will never know.” They started running again.

“Yeah right, don’t know how I always get into your stupid plans. Look, there they are.”

Mila and Ronan were just like other street children, orphan and homeless. Their eyes twinkled when they saw Mishka.

“Here you go guys, MERRY CHRISTMAS!” Mishka shouted in a gala mood. Daughter of a rich dad, her heart was a pure gold; she befriended with both kids just a week ago and convinced Jacob to donate their gifts to both poor children. She and Jacob gave all their gifts to them, including the teddy they recently found.

“Thank you so much guys, you really made our day” said Ronan and Jones” it’s so nice of you, you both brought every single gift we wished since we were….I don’t even remember since when.”

“Just enjoy your gifts; here, I got the cake mommy made for me. I have already got enough gifts with me; wish Santa had gifted me personally, every year I try to wake but fall asleep and then he drops whatever gift I wish for.”

“Okay, we must leave else our parents will come looking for us.” Jacob said, waving goodbye to both.

They turned back towards their homes, but Mishka was sad, her wish to see Santa was not granted yet, the only thing she actually wished this year.

“Cheer up Mishi, there’s no Santa okay; it is our parents who arrange these gifts for us.” Jacob tried to cheer her.

There was dead silence in the street, they continued with their walk,. Suddenly, a gust of wind astounded them. They looked up in the air, and their jaw dropped, a flying sleigh with reindeers attached to it arrived and halted. A giant figure appeared ”Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas children!” This was Mishka’s moment and she was the happiest child in the world.

Three words:

____________________________

'Marriages are made in heaven'; their affection & compatibility verified the saying. The whole world could see, how deep they were into each other. And the news of a new life augmented the merriment in their lives.

“My dear wife! Nothing more now I seek or aspire from life’ he pecked a kiss on her forehead, ‘When I will be back from abroad, I will see that our son gets all my time.’

Weathers passed and the awaited day arrived.

‘Congratulations husband, you're promoted to fathership. Our girl resembles you totally, especially her eyes, where I delve into for hours. So now come back soon, can’t wait to see you.’ She messaged him.

She waited for an hour anticipating his revert. Finally her cellphone’s message tone clanged. Her fingers made no delay in opening the messenger. It was his message where he compiled all his feelings in three words.

Those three words that started with ‘T’ were enough to wreck her life, shattering her dreams of a pleasant future.

A day not so far:

_________________________________

They knocked at the door hesitantly.

‘Please come in.’ a female voice answered.

They entered the room, closing the door carefully. He helped her wife to the chair, holding her hands.

‘Mr. & Mrs.…..’ she glanced at the application form closely, ‘Naadkarni.’

‘Yes Mam.’ They said in unison, gently; posing a smile.

‘Let me first congratulate you for choosing city’s prime & eminent school. Your child is certainly in the best hands where we will shape our pupils’ future in concord with their dispositions & aspirations. We believe in providing the environment where the tiny tots will fly with their imagination. In our tutelage, the naive minds will evolve towards the right direction, towards conviction.’

‘Yeah yeah, the hypocritical speech’ He thought, ‘Absolutely Mam!’ An admitting grin followed, ‘any directives for us as parents.’

‘Not much really, we don’t believe in enforcement. Just a few things, we will provide guidelines for child’s education; diet plan; attiring etc. for his all round personality development. Therefore, it will be our request to make the arrangements from our affiliates only.’ She donned a broad smile.

‘Certainly Mam!’ the mother nodded in agreement, ‘along came the demands’ she brooded.

‘Thanks for understanding. Now the most important question’ she looked at her, ‘when’s the due date?’

Emptiness

________________________________________________

She cuddled her beloved’s shirt tightly. His scent used to refresh her morning while he was away, followed by their son’s cackles and capering.

‘Azim! Where are you son? Come to mommy now, we will play ha……’ She stopped, recalling, that they were never gonna be there for her. The chemical attacks that took her family away, endowed her with new companions; tears & loneliness.

Allegiance:

_______________________________

‘Just a few steps Rohini. We are almost there.’

‘Damn you Dhiren! The world goes Vrindavan on Holi…’She gasped, ‘and we are here, at this unknown hill. We are not young anymore, do take that into notice.’

‘Vrindavan’s cliché. Just try to observe the serenity here. No shouts and thankfully no pouts.’ He smirked.

‘Okay now pause! I need some air, before we move further.’

‘Yeah let’s relax here for a while. We have come long for Jagannath, let him now wait.’

They sat silently at the stairs, reveling the scenery. He preferred staring at infinity. While her gaze remained at him; beholding his strands of hair, waving with the breeze. She clasped her hand with his and rested her head on his shoulder, relaxing her eyes. A drop on her hand impeded the repose. She looked at him, it belonged his eyes.

‘What happened, Dhiren?’

‘Nothing, while here I tried to distract my mind from the hullabaloo; it diverted, there again.’

‘You’ve served the army, your country with pride and honor; let not that nonsense sway you.’

‘I wasn’t. But now I wonder what was I then; a proud army man, a patriot, a fighter….’ His voice choked for a second, ‘Or rather a rapist, murderer, a suppresser. While all those years I served my nation, our men are; I never realized we are being depicted in such way. It aches my heart Rohini, when a young innocent girl inclines towards the anarchists without reasoning the situations; politicians standing with “young student leaders” who actually advocate separatism, WHY?’

‘The world is mystical in its own ways my child. Calm yourself, you have done your karma, let people decide what’s right, and if they choose the evil, why do you cry upon it. The karma shall speak, not us. Here have this prasdam, BAM BHOLE.’

A hermit what they figured was coming downwards, towards them. Astonished as there seemed no one else few minutes earlier, they stayed cautious.

‘In the times of Holi, your Shiv chanting indicates you’re not out of Shivratri hangover yet.’

‘I believe in one God! He’s Ram in Dusshehra, Krishn in Holi and Shiv in Shivratri. Just consider Shiv is here to worship his Jagannath here in Holi.’

‘So you’re Shiv?’ He tried to mock him.

‘अहम् ब्रह्मास्मि, I am in him, he’s in me; that’s the ultimate truth, ain’t that?’

‘Guy’s gotta point Dhiren, especially when he has awed you.’

‘Indeed dear. Now, take this prasadam, it will relieve you from weariness, JAI JAGANNATH.'

The prasadam actually worked, his all agonies vanished, ‘Incredible, this is just awesome, is it some ‘herbalacious’ magic Ba..’ He turned to him, but to their wonder, no one was there, he was gone.

‘Well! May be it was him, to clear your dilemma.’

‘Yeah, like he said ‘अहम् ब्रह्मास्मि’.

‘Hang on, Sanchi’ their hands were clasped tightly. His acrophobia didn’t let him open his eyes, but the fear reflected with his trembling hands. The accident they met wounded them badly; ending up hanging at the edge of the cliff, ‘We will pass this.’

‘Its okay honey’ the grip was loosening, ‘I don’t think I would be able to hold for longer.’

‘NO! No please don’t say that’ those closed eyes couldn’t hide the tears, ‘See I can’t do it without you. Please, please, please don’t say that, I will die without you.’

‘I am never gonna leave you Vicky. Now, open your eyes so I can see you, to my heart’s content.’ She tried her best to sound serene.

He knew he was going to lose her. Yet he opened his eyes, for her. He tried not looking at the abyss, but her face. His tears flowed, into her eyes and then, through her eyes, ‘I Love You, Vicky.’ A teardrop rolled down her eye.

‘That was brilliant Shagun. I was, mesmerized.’

‘Not as charismatic as you, Rohan.’ They were immersed in each other. The scene was over, but to everyone’s incognizance, a love-story had sparked.

‘Jarome! Why you bring us to this spooky road every weekend? I mean, we can get naughty anywhere haan.’

‘Yeah we can, sugar. But this “spooky” driveway works best for me, no disruptions. Funny! Even mobile network goes in hibernation here, and so I can talk my heart out with you.’

‘Hey any luck with your project?’

‘Well, you are sitting on it. This car will be the world’s first complete “smart-car”. Some technical glitches that I need to work on and then y…… HO, what’s......?’

‘Wow Jarome! The car is actually driving "smart". Nice way to surprise by the way.’ Eva imparted a kiss on his cheeks.

‘Ahmm…’ Jarome’s perspired face couldn’t express anything else. The car was actually driving self, and he was clueless about it; except the fact, that the spooky driveway legends seemed true now.

All love, no bread

________________________________________________

Agatha was a professional stewardess, never let emotions hinder her work; till her gaze fell on Paul.

‘Sir, would you like to have something?’ She walked to him.

‘A minute, please’

‘Ummm! I believe you feel like, bread.’

‘Not a bad idea, how can you say...... so?’ Paul raised his head, only to be lost, in her.

‘Ahan!’ Her voice now sensuous, ‘Coz. I feel like, butter.’

And so, love was kindling in the air.

The fault is always her's:

__________________________________

‘Yo Mathew, see this video trending in too yube, made my day.’

‘And night’ Mathew winked, ‘Wish we were also there, my hands are itching; to get “there”.’

‘Cool it bro, you will get your ‘there’. There’s no dearth of opportunities. Here! While we are looking at Banglore, I just got a feed from bacefook. Man! Delhi is never short with sluts, always ready to strip. And when ogled or touched, they cry foul; feminism and all crap, give me a break. Look at Drishti, so cultured, well dressed & mannered; has she complained any such thing ever, NO.’
‘Yeah man, sister Drishti is so divine; respect! ‘
*DoorBell*
‘I will take that’ Mathew got up to open the door. It was Drishti. What surprised him was her teary face, ‘What’s the matter sis. Hey Sattvik, come here.’

‘Why, what’s the matter?’ He rushed; the one who was most dear to him, broke on his shoulders.

Sattvik caressed her hairs, till she calmed, ‘Now tell me, what happened?’ He asked.

‘Please brother, don’t be angry at me. It wasn’t my fault; I was coming straight to our house, from music classes. I was in the auto, suddenly a guy from nowhere got on the auto. Before I could say anything…….’her eyes were again wet, ‘he grabbed me……he t…….touched me......everywhere.' She covered her face, 'I feel sickened, I am not able to figure where I went wrong. I always followed mother’s instructions carefully, never talked to any stranger, then why?’ Her tears didn’t stop.

‘No, you weren’t, else why that man misbehaved with you. Definitely you must have hinted him. No more music classes from tomorrow, you will stay in home, till I find a suitable boy for you.’

‘But mother, what’s her fault here. She nev.. .’

‘I don’t want any arguments Sattvik.’ She took Drishti with her.

Sattvik and Mathew looked at each other in dismay, trying to reason what went wrong; the education, the mindset, or the whole society that led him create such picture of feminine in his mind. Their gaze turned to the Banglore stills, the perception now changed.

‘WO! Majhar, check this shit. This guy has no shame, nor Allah’s fear. What’s the problem with these celebs man?’

‘Why, what happened?’

‘Look, he shared his pic, with his wife. That bitch is wearing a low neck, sleeveless dress. Shameless, let me treat him with a befitting tweet.’

‘Hmmm! But how’s that bad.’

‘A married woman wearing such obscene dress, putting her pic on display, and you say what's bad. She must be clad in a burqa. A million eyes are ogling at her, that, is the PROBLEM.’

‘So what, Bhai do topless in his movies, so does many others, that doesn’t raise a brow.’

‘Don’t put Bhai in this, he’s a man and a real gentleman. Don’t you know about his charitable deeds?’

‘Hmmmm! Gentleman you say. Does a gentleman slap his girlfriend in public, humiliate her? I don’t think so and if such is, I am better an inhuman, than being human. And now if you’re going moral police, care to preach the ones who support SISI? Those savage bastards kill people in the name of Islam; rape women, trade them and what not, never heard your voice condemning them, and that, is hypocrisy my friend. Last thing, if a male is aroused so easily by looking at women with small clothes, the problem is in his eye, his medieval sexist mindset. I don't see Allah's will in you, nor in them.'

It's everyone's fight

________________________

‘This is nonsense! It’s been three hours; I am freezing and there’s no respite. I have to stand here like a beggar, for my own MONEY.’ He burst.

‘Cool down Sir! This is for our nation’s well being only. We must learn from our army; they guard our frontiers in such severe conditions, away from their family. And here we complain, not ready to adjust for a couple of months even.’ Sukhmani tried to calm him.

‘FYI! I am an ex-army man.’ He sneered at him.

Sukhmani was immersed in contemplation. A minute later, he walked to the guard. They exchanged a few words and the latter went inside, coming back with the branch manager.

‘Sir! It’s an honor, to be at your service. We commoners can’t repay what you and your fellow men have done for us. But within my authority; you don’t need to stand in a queue anymore. Nor does the senior citizens, or the divyanngs or any special case. Our branch will cater to them separately, for their convenience.’

He was overwhelmed; looked at Sukhmani, this time in admiration.

{Image: CatchNews}

‘It’s completely okay Sir! You have fought with the outer demons for years. Join us in the fight with the inner ones this time.’ Sukhmani’s hand waved for a salute, in pride.

‘Look Rana! You are on strike and hence, things rest on you. 5 runs in 2 balls, you can hit it; just go for it buddy.’ Shergill patted his star batsman.

‘No worries Cap, consider us won.’ He had win many earlier for his team, his country. He looked poise for it today as well.

The field was set; spectators were going crazy, chanting their star batsman's name. With the bowler progressing towards him, the temperature was soaring; anything could happen, but they wanted a six.

The ball was an inswinger; he lofted his bat, and missed. The bails were off, the match was lost. The crowd went complete stunned. Despaired, he couldn’t raise his face.

Shergill walked to him, ‘It’s okay Rana, no one’s perfect. We’re not Gods.’

“You are not a God Rana. You are allowed to err, especially when one such, can earn you a penthouse in Madrid.” The bookie’s words echoed his mind.

‘Ok Papa! Yay’ The six year lad placed the diyas carefully, in ecstasy.

‘Now, place this sweet box, and say “Happy Diwali”’

‘HAPPY DIWALI’ the kid cackled.

Atharva caressed his head, ‘Come! Let’s go home. Time for some fun.’

Sunderlal used to beg in that footpath from last 45 years, in dejection; but today, the gleam in face overshadowed the diyas.

"Ram in you"

________________________________

‘Mr. Home Minister Sir! Let me acquaint you of the consequences. No matter whatever action we take, these nuisance creators; the leftists, a certain section of media, the separatists; these traitors will add fuel to the fire.’

‘What do you suggest then, general?’

‘With all due respect Sir, If I may, I have a suggestion.’ He interrupted.

‘’We are here for that only, soldier. Of course you can. What’s on your mind?’

He took out a cartridge from his pocket and placed it on the table.

‘What’s this?’

He got up and walked towards a dummy placed at the other corner of the room. A gun was kept near it, he picked it up; took out a similar cartridge from his pocket, loaded it in the gun and aimed towards the dummy.

Before anyone could utter a word, he pulled the trigger. Not a bullet, but it shot a dark colored ink, imbuing the dummy.

He turned, ‘Sir! This specialized ink will do zero percent damage to their bodies, but will leave an enduring stain on the exposed parts; for months, if not forever. The ink also discharges gaseous effect, causing nausea, temporary.
We can take advantage of it, with the help of a parallel unit; we can track the conspirators behind and unmask them, to end this mania, sooner.’

Minister got up, moved towards him. He read his badge, ‘Mr. Raghav! just like the name eh! Let’s nail the Raavarns, our soldiers have suffered enough.

‘Miss Trisha! I see your credentials go far beyond the job requisition, good. But you see, the resume doesn’t show the interiors, the real you.’ Imran said, scanning her contour.

‘With all due respect sir’ She bent forward, exposing her cleavage, 'I have what it takes for the hotel manager. If there’s another way to prove my potentials, I’m up for it.’

‘Yeah, that’s what I am talking about,’ his subtle tone couldn’t hide the lust, ‘attitude. The final interview would be held tonight. It would be conducted in my suite, there would be other men, I mean interviewers, hope you’re fine with it?’

‘Why not, sir.’ Her eyes glittered, ‘more, the merrier.’ Her tone went seductive.

‘Hmmmm, a wanton.’ He mumbled.

In the evening:

Imran opened the door at the knock. He was wonderstruck with the enticing site. She wore a sultry revealing gown with a slit cut up to her hip, enough to floor the men in waiting. Imran found it hard to gaze away from the front part that was parted, revealing ample bosom.

‘Oh… please come in Trisha.’ He finally managed to speak.

‘Thank you, sir.’

‘Please meet the associate board members; they were waiting eagerly, to interview you.’

‘Not eager than me. If everyone's there, I would like to introduce myself.’

‘Oh yes yes.’ They drooled, looking at her.

‘I am Durga Mahapatra, head CRIME BRANCH, Mumbai Police.’ She pulled out her gun, ‘stay seated gentlemen, you too Imran. You are all guilty of some serious charges viz. harassment of women employees, enforcing them towards prostitution and trafficking women to Arab countries. You were under scanner from past few months and now we have enough proofs to present you in the court. Women for you, are mere objects/slaves, to satisfy your desires. But you forgot one thing, you are born of her. Femininity has many dimensions to it, which you jerks will never understand. Now, MOVE!

He sneaked inside the room, cautiously. Before he could relax, the lights switched on, illuminating the whole room, except her. She was literally hot under the collar.

‘Err, sweetie!’ He perspired.

‘Don’t come any near. It’s 1 a.m. and now you’ve got time for me. Have you forgotten today’s occasion?’

‘No no honey. I swear, it was on my reminder’ showing his phone’s calendar, ‘See!’ He made a grinning effort.

‘No excuses will be accepted. I am very upset, you may now leave, to wherever.’ She turned away.

He came closer, on his knees, ‘Princess! You know? I drove the whole day, for this.’ He took out an object from his blazer, ‘Now tell me, how I could have arrived without it?’

Her face gleamed, as she hold the box, ‘PAPA! You remembered?’

The joy on her face, multiplied as she unraveled her gift.

Stolen:

________________________________

Venessa drove haphazardly towards her home, the moment her neighbor notified some noises to her.

She parked the car and dashed straight to the back-door, ‘What if the thief is still there, what if he’s carrying a weapon, why aren’t the cops here yet?’ She wondered, catching her breath.

She tried to sense any chirm or stir, placing her ear on the door; nothing, it was all mute. Slowly, she rolled the door knob and stepped in. It was all a mess; yes, the house was burgled.

But to her astonishment, nothing was stolen; the cash, jewelry, all intact. It was then her gaze fell into the frame placed on the dressing table. Her picture was replaced with a note.

“My apologies for all this, rest assure, the only thing’s taken, is your picture. With the very first look, I was enchanted and hence, couldn’t dare to take anything else. Now, I want to make myself worthy, for you. And your photo will inspire me towards good.

Next time, I won’t come in hiding;
Next time, I won’t come for money;
Next time, I will come for love, for you.”

He stared at the victim in derision. Finally he had some story to entertain his bored ears.

‘So, tell me exactly about that night, ‘he asked, playing with his pen, ‘in DETAILS.’

The eyes looked down in embarrassment, unaware of his grin, ‘I am twenty four, a banker. It was our month end party, in a hotel. There I met those three, they were among the invitees. We talked about business and they seemed impressed. The music was disrupting our conversation, so we went to their room. The conversation was on, when I felt something in my drink. Before I could act, the drink did its job and I dozed off. When I got back to my senses, I found myself lying in a bed; naked, my hands tied.’

The voice started breaking, ‘I…..I tried to cover myself with my legs, but they were tied to the bed too. They stood right in front, undressing. I told them I am married and begged, to leave me. But they disregarded to my plea and…’

He offered the victim some water. The grin on his face was replaced, to guilt.

‘They didn’t stop, until they were done, leaving me in pain. Sir! I was bruised, tormented.’ Tears started rolling down the eyes.

‘Look, I sympathize with you. But understand nobody is going to believe you; even our system will support them. You should reconsider.’

{Image: stillunfold}

‘Officer, I will not back off, just because I am a man and they were women, 'He rose from the chair, angst, 'I am still in pain, and come what may, I will fight.’ Shobhit wiped his tears, the anguish on his face was firmed by determination, for justice.

Tantra:

_________________________

‘Come to me.’ The mystical whisper woke Shailesh from the unconscious. Gazing at the smoky surroundings, he wiped his eyes for a clearer view.

The whole place looked messy, as if a tornado occurred inside. Trying to reason what happened; he rose to walk but impinged onto something. The object, which collided with him, shook him to core. Funked, his throat choked. He looked around, the whole hut was burning.

35 minutes earlier –

‘Baba! This will work no?’

‘Baccha! Drop your worries, that puny witch will begone from your life, forever.

The tantric took a fistful of ash, muttering mantras and dredged it into an earthen bowl. Shailesh was perturbed to what he was looking; the bowl started lifting in the air, slowly. Flames were now emitting of its mouth.

‘This mooth will finish that witch baccha, within an hour, it will return with the news.’

Barely ten minutes passed, they heard a shriek. Tantrik closed his eyes to meditate and when he opened them, Shailesh was horrified looking at the fear in the tantrik’s eyes.’

‘You fool! What have you got me into?’

‘Baba, she’s a witch, she’s haunting me in my dreams. And that’s why I am here at you refuge.’

'MOORKH! She is no ordinary witch. She is a Dakini, her powers are unparalleled, now we both will die.’

‘HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.’A dreadful laugh shuddered them. The earthen bowl, invoked by the tantric returned, with her. She smashed it on the exteriors of the hut, setting it on fire,

Present:

Shailesh was quivering; the tantrik’s corpse was recumbent in front of his face. He dared not to move an inch. The gate opened, covered in a black saree, she moved closer to him, hovering in the air.

She waved her hands upwards and with that, Shailesh’s body started ascending, in the air.

‘It’s been months since I have tasted human blood, and you, ‘she looked at him lasciviously, ‘are a treat. Before relishing your blood, I will have a thirty min. stint of pleasure and pain.’ She draw his face closure, ‘Pleasure for me, and pain, for you.’

The room went resonant with her shriek.

‘Okay children! Remember, tomorrow is raakhi, so holiday. Enjoy with your siblings, and be good.’ Said the teacher, with the school bells ringing.

Children ran towards the school gate. The premises was resonant with their hurrahs.

Rahul and Meera sat on the backseat of their car, chirping about the event.

‘Rahul, mamma also told me about raakhi. She says you will present me a gift, when I will tie the raakhi on your hand. What will you gift me bhai?’ She grinned.

‘How am I supposed to know, I am just nine.’ He answered naively, wiping his nose. The kid had some charm, which enhanced with the nose-wiping.

‘Mamma told, that you will gift me a doll-house. She says it’s special.’ Her eyes twinkled.

There was mischief playing in Rahul’s mind, ‘I am sorry sis, but dad said there won’t be any gift for you. You already have plenty of toys. Though, I am getting the hot-wheels new collection.’ He smiled shrewdly looking at her dimming face.

Next Day:

‘Okay Meera, now tie this raakhi to your brother’s hand.’ Her mother held her hand to guide her.

‘Smiiiiile, you’re on camera.’ Their father said, snapping his fingers, ‘come on Meera, smile baby doll.’

Meera tied the raakhi and gave a faded smile, ‘I am going to bathroom.’

Mother then alluded to Rahul, he dashed to the parent’s room. Meera came back from the bathroom, sluggishly.

‘SURPRISE!’ screamed all.

Meera astoundingly looked at Rahul, standing with a big size object, gift-wrapped. As he unraveled it, Meera's face brightened manifolds.

She cackled looking at the giant dollhouse and gave a tight hug to his brother, 'Happy Raakhi, bhai.'
