Jai Mata Di

'Just take it easy Malcolm, we will start by the night. Till then, enjoy the weather man. Okay, just presume you are on a adventure trip.'

"Look Saloni, I am telling you, I don't believe in all this okay. I don't even go to church and you have brought me here in Kat...Katraw.'

'Else, you would have got bored in the hostel that's why, and yes its KATRA . Now stop cribbing and help me with the luggage. The guys must be coming soon, hope they find a good hotel.'

He helped her placing the luggage by the side of the road and went to a shop for water. Suddenly he heard an uproar. A bull that had gone berserk was running towards his side aggressively.

He stood still; shocked, scared. The bull was approaching near. Saloni shouted him to run, but his senses failed to respond.

'Jesus.' he shouted aloud in his mind.

A red scarf, came out of nowhere and wrapped him. Miraculously, the bull stopped instantly. People around,  were looking at him awestruck.

The Act

The stage was set for the special performance. Audience’s most anticipated moment finally arrived. The wizard took a bow humbly standing at the right end of the stage.

He requested for a volunteer. A woman stood and reached the stage. He softly asked her to stand at an elevated platform. He signaled the assistants, they tied a pocket watch to her neck, the dial being just above the collar-bone. He then blindfolded himself; the assistant gave him a bow and an arrow.

The platform started revolving. The audiences were silent as dead; lights of the hall were dimmed, augmenting their anxiety. He put the arrow on the bow, aiming straight, towards her. He was keenly observing the ticking, every variation of it with the revolving.

She was nervous, sweating; repenting her decision.

He finally discharged the arrow. The acute arrow hit its target breaking the watch-glass, piercing the watch. She sensed her end.

But the real act started after that hit, before the arrow could penetrate her skin, the arrow transformed into flowers.

The audiences gave a standing ovation, astounded. She, dumbstruck

Amen

The empty sweet bowl in her hands reflected the glitter in her eyes.

‘You won’t believe this Prabha, like yesterday; today also Laddoo Gopal accepted my bhog.’ The sixty eight year old Asha Devi chirped like a girl, the women surrounding her were in astonishment.

‘Kanhaji is pleased on you Asha, it’s really a miracle.’ Prabha replied. Asha Devi was now a celebrity in her circle.

‘I wish Kanhaji accept my bhog every morning. I will prepare newer sweets for him.’ She said with enthusiasm.

Back in the house, her two year old grandson was savoring the bhog. With the wish she made, a voice from deep within, came from his mouth, ‘aivamastu’.
