Hankering

________________________________

Govind had never felt so vibrant before. The eight year old lad was ecstatic, looking towards his surroundings. Red, green, orange, yellow; colors were juggling with his mind, wherever his eyes turned.

‘Thank you Baba, for letting me come with you. What is this?’ he pointed at an orange-saffron colored object.

‘That’s peach, it’s a fruit. Here, smells good na?’

Govind looked at the fruit with admiration. He sniffed it, ‘Hmmm, it's nice baba. Can I have one bite?’

‘NO, give it back to me. Its very expensive.' He snatched the fruit from him.

Govind was upset; never ever he had a fruit before. He sat aside and started playing with stones to divert his mood. His father cleaned carefully the peach and put it back on the trolley, for display.

‘How much for the peach?’ A customer walked in with his daughter.

‘Rs. 195/kg saab. Very nutritious, especially for children. Its rich in calcium, iron, minerals and fibers. How much should I pack?'
